Veterinarian
Dr. Heidi Burris
Owner, DVM
Level 3 Fear Free Certified
Dr. Heidi Burris is originally from Arizona, but went to veterinary school at Oregon State University (go Beavs!) and graduated in 2010. After graduating, she went back to Arizona and was so happy when she was able to move back up the Pacific Northwest around 6 years ago and now calls Hillsboro home. As a veterinarian, she has a special interest in surgery, dermatology and pocket pets. One of her heart dogs, Lucy, had severe food allergies and environmental allergies from an early age, and thus Dr. Burris has quite a bit of experience as both an owner and veterinarian in treating them. Her heart hamster, Hammy taught her that even the smallest of creatures can hold a special place in your heart which is why she is passionate in treating pocket pets.
Dr. Burris strongly believes in the value of community, teamwork, empathy, and compassion not only for patients and clients, but also for her team. She hopes to make a difference in the world by providing a positive, nurturing environment for her team to work in, which will trickle down to exceptional patient care and client communication. As the old saying goes, "Team work makes the dream work!" Dr Burris also believes strongly in promoting a Fear Free experience for both animals as well as their pet parents, and is proud to be Fear Free Level 3 certified as well as Cat Friendly Practice certified.
In her spare time, she knits, crochets, hikes and gardens. She likes to think that she's pretty good at gardening, but her plants from time to time might disagree. She also shares her home with her husband, 4 small human children, and a cranky old lady kitty.
